- Kentucky Medicaid Overview (September 2003)--Kentucky Medicaid provides a broad range of health services to over 660,000 low-income working families, children, and aged, blind, and disabled Kentuckians. This publication provides an overview of eligibility, services, delivery systems, financing, and resources.
- Ohio Medicaid Basics (February 2003)--Produced with the George Gund Foundation, Ohio Medicaid Basics provides an overview of Ohio Medicaid, including eligibility, key programs, and financing and expenditures. An updated version was published by the Health Policy Institute of Ohio in February 2005 and can be found here.
- Physicians and Charity Care in Greater Cincinnati (November 2008)--This is a summary on the Greater Cincinnati Physician Study that assessed the current level of uncompensated care provided by physicians in the Greater Cincinnati region.
- Proceedings from Healing the Whole Person: Loss and Health Roundtable (June 2000)--The proceedings from this one-day roundtable reflect on how loss affects health, including the papers from the presenters and a summary of discussions.

Children's Health
- Children's Health Issues (January 1999)--This report looks at several factors affecting the health of our region's children, including poverty, medical insurance, prenatal care, immunizations, and teen birth rates.
- Evaluation of Healthcare Costs and Utilization among Medicaid Recipients in Schools with School-Based Health Centers Final Report (August 2005)--This study was designed to measure the cost effectiveness of these SBHCs. This study focused on four in three urban and one rural Ohio school districts in Greater Cincinnati. Two Ohio schools without SBHCs, one urban and one rural, served as comparison schools. The study period for this report covered five-and-a-half years, from September 1997 to February 2003 (5.5 calendar years). This study looked at the 5,506 students who were enrolled in the six schools and in the Ohio Medicaid program.
- Evaluation of Health Outcomes of Students Using School-Based Health Centers Public Survey Report (August 2005)--This survey consisted of all students enrolled at eight selected public schools with SBHCs, their parents, and school staff.
- The Need for Behavioral Health Services for School-Age Children: A Survey of Students in Southwestern Ohio (June 2003)--The Butler County Mental Health Board, the Clermont County Mental Health and Recovery Board, and Mental Health and Recovery Services of Warren & Clinton Counties collectively decided to do a broad needs assessments of the students in their counties to determine the extent and depths of students' needs.
- A Prescription for Success (August 2005)--This report summarizes two studies on school-based health centers and their affect on student health status, use of healthcare services and attendance, and costs to the system.

- Are Projects Sustained When Our Funding Ends? (September 2009)--As part of our evaluation of our work, we asked past grantees: “What happens to projects after Health Foundation funding ends?”For this survey on sustainability, we only looked at start-up and expansion grants whose Health Foundation funding ended between January 2007 and December 2008.

- Grantee Experiences with our Evaluation Process (June 2007)--In 2005, we participated in a Grantee Perception Survey conducted by the Center for Effective Philanthropy. Recently, we conducted a follow-up survey to find out more about our grantees’ experiences with our evaluation process. Specifically, we wanted to find ways to make the evaluation process as easy and useful as possible.

- Greater Cincinnati Community Health Status Survey 2002 (January 2003)--These survey results are from interviews with over 2,000 randomly selected adults residing in a 22-county Greater Cincinnati area, including eight counties in Ohio, nine counties in Kentucky, and five counties in Indiana.

- Prevention of Family Violence in The Anthem Foundation of Ohio's Service Area (September 2000)--A look at the prevalence of family violence in a 36-county Ohio region as well as effective nation- and statewide prevention programs.
- Prevention of Lead Exposure in Ohio (November 2000)--This report examines lead exposure in a 36-county Ohio region, how it affects children, and what coordinated measures are being taken to counter the harmful effects of exposure.
- Preventive Oral Health Care in the Anthem Foundation of Ohio's Service Area (May 2000)--This report explores the status of oral health in a 36-county area in Ohio and examines the current and best practices used to address oral health needs.

- Behavioral Health Disorders Among Male Low-Level Offenders (August 2003)--This publication examines the extent of behavioral health disorders among men in low-security facilities and offers recommendations for effective interventions.
- Behavioral Health on the Ballot (November 2002)--This report examines property tax levies for mental health and alcohol and other drug treatment in nine Southwest Ohio counties.
- The Effects of Depression on Society: Proceedings from the Depression Roundtable (November 2001)--These proceedings contain papers from the presenters and the discussions among the health and social service providers who participated in the roundtable.
- Health Issues of People with Severe Mental Illness (August 1999)--This report highlights the significant health issues facing people with chronic severe mental illness, particularly those diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression.
- Interim Grantmaking Report - Substance Use Disorders and Severe Mental Illnesses in the Criminal Justice System (March 2009)--This interim report presents an overview of the initiative and what the Health Foundation has learned so far about funding grants that address substance use disorders and severe mental illnesses in the criminal justice system. It combines the results of a feasibility study we conducted in 2007 with grant results and thoughts from our Senior Program Officers. We have also included quotes from our grantees in the margins of this report to give their perspective.
- Issues Concerning Behavioral Health Insurance Parity (May 2006)--This informational report discussing the insurance parity issues in behavioral health. The 40-page report is the culmination of five years of study in the area. According to the report, behavioral health insurance parity means providing the same benefits and coverage of treatment for mental illnesses and substance use disorders as for any physical illness or disease.
- Mental Illness and Substance Abuse in the Criminal Justice System (September 2000)--This report takes an in-depth look at how the behavioral health and criminal justice systems interact.
- Location, Location, Location Providing Physical Health Care in Other Settings to Increase Access Reclaiming 25 Years of Life Integrating Physical and Mental Health Care to Reduce Health Disparities for People with Severe Mental Illnesses (October 2008 Issue 1)--This white paper presents an overview of the health disparities of people with severe mental illnesses, some of the factors that contribute to these disparities, and two strategies that can be used to address these disparities.
- Severe Mental Illness Focus Area Report (November 2009)--This is a year in review report on the severe mental illness focus area.
- Voices of FACT: How Forensic Assertive Community Treatment Changes Lives (May 2009)--The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati has funded 10 ACT teams in our region, 4 of which are FACT teams. This is a study of the results of these 10 ACT teams, the Health Foundation heard from consumers, staff, and community stakeholders that FACT has changed their lives and their communities.

- 2009 Kentucky Health ISsues Poll--In late 2009,the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky and The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati sponsored the Kentucky Health Issues Poll, a telephone survey to find out what Kentuckians think about various health issuesthat affect our communities, our state, and our nation. This report presents the views expressed on selected topics by respondents from the following areas:
- A Prescription for Success (August 2005)--This report summarizes two studies on school-based health centers and their affect on student health status, use of healthcare services and attendance, and costs to the system.
- Are Projects Sustained When Our Funding Ends (August 2007)--The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati supports projects that improve the health of people in the Cincinnati region. This report summarizes what happens to the project after the Health Foundation funding ends.

Substance Use Disorders

- Substance Abuse Treatment Needs of Adolescents in Southwest Ohio (November 2002)--Drawing from analyses conducted in 14 Southwest Ohio counties, this report presents a picture of the challenges faced by communities in preventing and treating adolescent substance abuse.
- Supporting Community-Based Substance Abuse Prevention: Lessons learned from 10 years of the ASAP Center (March 2010)--This report starts where the ASAP Center began, with an understanding of substance ASAP: A Support System for Community-Based Prevention. The ASAP Center and The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati abuse prevention and the community in which we work. Next, it describes what the ASAP Center does to support community-basedprevention. Using data from ASAP Center and other community surveys and interviews of staff and community partners, the report outlines the effects the ASAP Center has had on our community. It provides tips and suggestions for people interested in building a prevention support system. Finally, the report discusses where the ASAP Center will go from here.
