Our community identified children's health as one of the most important unmet needs. The community also recognized that these unmet needs were preventing children from attending school and affecting their ability to learn.
To answer these needs, the Health Foundation chose School-Aged Children's Healthcare as one of its focus areas. This focus area concentrates on delivering healthcare to children in school--a safe, familiar, and comfortable environment. Because services are on-site, delays in getting a child an appointment with a provider and getting the child to the appointment and follow-up care are significantly reduced, as are the problems in getting care for children who do not have insurance.
Within this focus area, we have chosen two main strategies. Descriptions of these strategies as well as a background of the focus area itself can be viewed by clicking on the choices to the right. To learn more about our general funding procedures and eligibility requirements, click here.
