Severe mental illnesses can alter a person's thinking, mood, or behavior resulting in distress and/or impaired functioning. Today, people with severe mental illnesses can live in the community as long as they have support from their community, including treatment housing, employment, and understanding. The Health Foundation recognized the opportunity to help the communitybuild this support, and we chose Severe Mental Illness as one of our focused areas of grantmaking.
Within this focus area, we have chosen two main strategies. Descriptions of these strategies as well as a background of the focus area itself can be viewed by clicking on the choices to the right. To learn more about our general funding procedures and eligibility requirements, click here.
