The primary objective of the Bellevue/Southgate School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs) is to provide access to primary care and mental health services to students in the Bellevue and Southgate School Districts. The districts partnered with Northern Kentucky Family Health and Family Services of Northern Kentucky to offer comprehensive services to students. The districts plan on opening the two sites in August 2002.
Northern Kentucky Family Health Centers collaborate on three SBHCs. They can share resources across school districts and build stronger community support for the model because they have multiple centers. Other objectives of the SBHCs are to reduce the number of days students are absent from school and to improve the overall health of the students. SBHCs offer a variety of services and referral opportunities to get students and families the services they need. |
