Results
Three months into its term, the project had served 20 youth, providing assessments and case management services for them and their families. Preliminary findings reveal that many of the youth who are involved in the criminal justice system are suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder. Other preliminary findings indicate that there are a group of juvenile offenders who are suffering from mental illnesses who are not being served by the mental health system and are instead placed in the criminal justice system, where they do not receive adequate services for their needs.
