Results A bi-lingual nurse was hired and began training on January 13, 2003. Training was completed and the nurse passed the Poison Information Training (PIT) test in May 2003. She also accompanied staff on community education and outreach events.

In March 2004, the nurse was recruited by Children's Hospital to work as an interpreter with the hospital's Family Care Center and continues to work part-time at the Drug and Poison Center.

Staff were able to make numerous contacts with the Hispanic/Latino community and increase the visibility of the center.
