Results Mercy Franciscan Home Development (MFHD) often provides supportive housing to homeless individuals and families in Over-the-Rhine. Since it added the Resident Services Program in 1997, MFHD had learned a lot about the causes of homelessness and the types of support that people need to prevent them from repeating the cycle of eviction.

Mercy Health Partners provides the support Mercy Franciscan Home Development needs to treat the residents in its program. The Resident Services Coordinator works with a variety of social services and other providers to help individuals and families overcome the root of the problems and achieve stability in their homes.

Through the HUD Continuum of Care, MFHD has formed a partnership with Over-the-Rhine Housing Network, ReStock, and Tender Mercies, three other nonprofit housing providers in the neighborhood. That way, if Mercy Franciscan Home Development does not have a unit available to a person coming out of a shelter or transitional housing facility, it can work with others who do. The grant provides staff for the Program, plus rent subsidies to pay for housing. The grant is part of a match for $385,000 in HUD funds.
