The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati Awards
Robert I.
Westheimer Internship to NKU Student
Health Foundation Encourages Academic Success, Community Service

Cincinnati— October 7, 2005—The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati has selected Stephanie Davis, a Master’s candidate at the Northern Kentucky University , as the recipient of the 2005-2006 Robert I. Westheimer Internship. Davis is pursuing a master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

The 12-month internship is awarded to a graduate student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and a desire to contribute to health care solutions within the community.

“We are pleased to award the Robert I. Westheimer Internship to a student who has expressed interest in learning how non-profit organizations function,” said Don Hoffman , President and CEO of The Health Foundation. “Stephanie’s volunteer and education background will serve her well in this internship, which provides students with a learning opportunity on what it takes to improve the status of healthcare in this community.”

The internship was established in 2000 to honor the contributions of the late Robert I. Westheimer, a philanthropist and community leader. Mr. Westheimer's vision of health philanthropy led to the creation of The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, the largest independent charitable foundation in Greater Cincinnati that focuses on improving health in the community.

“The Westheimer Internship will give me helpful experience in program evaluation, which will be of great benefit for my future career,” said Davis .  “Also, I would like to be able to apply what I learn here, to use it in the future to build better and more mutually beneficial relationships between non-profit and for-profit organizations to better serve community interests.”

Davis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from U.C. in 2000. She is currently working on her Master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at N.K.U. Previously, she worked as a graduate assistant for N.K.U.’s college of Education . She has volunteered with the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative and St. Clare School, and is serving on the planning committee for the River Cities Industrial-Organizational Psychology Conference.
